Jerome Elson

Coach

Purple Belt 4th degree

Allow me to introduce Jerome Elson, a dedicated practitioner of Jiu Jitsu whose journey began in 2014. Inspired by the exhilarating world of MMA showcased on television, Jerome felt compelled to embark on his own martial arts odyssey.

His progression through the ranks has been marked by significant milestones, with the achievement of his blue belt in 2018 and subsequent promotion to purple belt in 2020. These accomplishments reflect his unwavering commitment to honing his skills and deepening his understanding of the art.

Jerome’s path led him to Arte Suave, an academy he discovered online. Drawn to its state-of-the-art facilities and welcoming atmosphere, he recognized that this brand-new gym held immense potential. What sets Arte Suave apart is the rich tapestry of diverse backgrounds and age groups represented within the community, alongside a strong female presence. The instructors embody this ethos, each bringing their unique style, objectives, and approach to jiu jitsu and teaching. The academy has come a long way since its inception, offering a comprehensive experience where practitioners can find everything, they need under one roof.

Teaching holds a special place in Jerome’s heart. With nearly 15 years of experience in healthcare, his understanding of anatomy deeply influences his approach to technique. Jerome is passionate about fostering the confidence and skill of all members, regardless of their starting point. He relishes the opportunity to collaborate with students, welcoming their challenging questions and working together to find innovative solutions. For Jerome, teaching is a journey of growth and discovery, where he constantly learns from his students while helping them overcome obstacles, they once deemed insurmountable.

Jerome’s competitive spirit has led him to participate in various prestigious tournaments. Notable achievements include securing silver and bronze medals at the Queensland State Championships in 2016 and earning silver medals at the South East Qld Championships and Sunshine Coast Championships in 2017. These experiences have further fuelled his passion for teaching, as they provide valuable insights and prompt new questions, leading to a deeper understanding of the art.

Beyond the mats of Arte Suave, Jerome also dedicates his time to teaching at Two Kings Martial Arts, an affiliate academy of Arte Suave located in Tanah Merah. Choosing to teach there was a natural decision for Jerome, as it allows him to enhance his teaching abilities and positively impact the local community. Living in the area, he saw an opportunity to contribute his expertise and serve others through martial arts.

When Jerome isn’t immersed in the world of Jiu Jitsu, he enjoys pursuing other interests. He finds solace in playing golf, rejuvenation by spending time at the beach, and intellectual stimulation through the study of Gastroenterology and Interventional Endoscopy.

Jerome Elson is a passionate Jiu Jitsu practitioner and instructor who embodies the spirit of continuous growth and exploration. With a commitment to sharing his knowledge, empowering others, and embracing new challenges, Jerome’s journey serves as an inspiration to both his students and the broader martial arts community.

been doing JuJu at ArteSuave for over a year. The owner and instructors are very approachable and very experienced. This gym is great to enjoy as recreation but also serves the more serious contenders. I have been choked out by many gladiators from this gym both men and women, but always gone home with a smile and feeling better for training Jiujitsu. If you haven't done grappling this is the gym for you, if you are experienced and want to sharpen your skills this is also the gym for you. Aaron H-T 🙂 ps- I started my journey here in my late 40's and the gym has all shapes and sizes, my co-worker who is 21 also enjoys the gym

I was looking for a BJJ club in Brisbane after relocating from Dublin, and I tried a few ones, but once I got a call from Emanuela, I knew straight away how serious about BJJ Arte Suave is. And that happened even before having my first trial class; just by a phone conversation with her I felt reassured that there was the place I was looking for to resume my lessons. At Arte Suave, I feel supported by staff and members alike, and most importantly, I feel respected regardless of my level, limitations and challenges. BJJ as a martial art is taken really seriously, and I feel I can learn a lot from everyone there in a safe, welcoming and friendly environment. Thanks, Arte Suave, for the great work you all do, and keep it up! What a beautiful place Arte Suave is! When I joined I had no background in any martial arts and I took up the 3-class pass on a whim. But now I can’t seem to get enough of it.The deep knowledge of the professors, the seamless learning structure of the classes, and the warm and helpful community at AS is the perfect mix I could have asked for.If you are looking to start your BJJ journey then come speak to Emanuela, come sit around at AS and get a feel of how incredible this place is.
