Our kids’ program is designed not just to teach your children the art of BJJ, but also to instil values and skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
The core of our program is the hands-on learning of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques. This grappling-based martial art is perfect for kids as it emphasizes technique and strategy over strength and size.
Through consistent practice, children learn the importance of discipline both on and off the mats. BJJ also equips them with essential self-defence skills, promoting a sense of security and confidence.
Our classes enhance physical coordination and balance, crucial in a child’s development. They also learn to follow instruction, fostering their ability to focus and engage constructively in activities.
BJJ challenges children to overcome obstacles, teaching them resilience and character building. The supportive environment helps boost their self-esteem and awareness, cultivating a confident and positive mindset.
Our classes provide a great platform for social interaction, helping children develop communication skills and forge new friendships.
BJJ is not only a physical workout but a mental one too. It encourages mental clarity and sharpness, enhancing their ability to concentrate and solve problems. While learning and development are at the forefront, our classes are packed with fun! We provide a structured environment where children can enjoy themselves, laugh, and release energy in a positive way.
At Arte Suave, we’re committed to providing a comprehensive, enjoyable, and enriching experience for your child through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
We offer Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes tailored to children of all ages starting from as young as 1.5 years.
KIDS CLASSES
Pandas (2-4 Years Old)
Our Pandas class is where the journey for the littlest BJJ people begins, in a playful and safe environment. Designed for toddlers, this program focuses on basic movements, coordination, and learning to take instruction. It’s a wonderful way to start building foundational skills in martial arts. This is a parent interactive class where we encourage parents to join in until their child feels safe and confident enough to do the class alone. For those little ones who show early readiness, we offer the flexibility to start their BJJ journey even before they turn two.
Monkeys (4-7 Years Old)
In our Monkeys class, children aged 4 to 7 this is where the real BJJ journey technically begins. These classes are designed to foster basic BJJ skills and discipline in a fun, energetic setting using task based games. At this stage, children begin to learn more structured techniques, develop better coordination, and start understanding the discipline and respect, essential in martial arts, all while having fun.
Gorillas (8-13+ Years Old)
For children aged 8 to 12, the Gorillas class is where we start to get serious in BJJ. This program emphasizes more technique, sparring and the strategic aspects of BJJ. It’s here that children begin to appreciate the complexities of the sport, engage in more detailed practices, and develop a more in depth understanding of both the physical and mental aspects of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
13+ Years Old
As children grow, their training needs to evolve. For those aged 13 and above, we assess each student’s size, height, and skill level to find the most suitable training path. Larger or more mature kids may start transitioning into our adult Fundamentals classes around 13 or 14 years of age. We understand that every child is unique, so our approach is tailored to everyone’s individual’s needs, focusing on their confidence, learning ability, and physical development.
Kids competition class
Our Kids Competition Class are designed to introduce our young athletes for the dynamic world of competitive BJJ. These classes harness competition as a developmental tool, preparing them mentally and physically for tournaments. We combine positional training with sparring to refine their skills and strategic knowledge. Structured and disciplined, these sessions replicate real competition environments, including refereeing and peer coaching, enhancing rule understanding interactively. This method boosts focus, confidence, and sportsmanship. Participating children learn to enjoy and rise to competitive challenges, fostering both personal and martial arts growth.

What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu good for?
Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a martial art and combat sport system that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. It is not solely a martial art; it is also a sport, a method for promoting physical fitness and building character in people, and ultimately a way of life.
